Irfan Tayebaly has been practicing law since over 42 years and has been involved predominantly in corporate, banking, financial, corporate and privatization matters. Taking advantage of his MBA Degree and his five years’ experience as an international corporate, banking and financial legal adviser at London. Irfan M. Tayebaly specializes in corporate, banking and financial law and practice, including advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint venture companies and projects, formation and licensing of banking companies, investment finance companies, leasing companies, investment advisory and investment companies, advising on and structuring syndication, banking, financial, leasing transactions, company and corporate matters, drafting and advising on banking, commercial and property / security documentation, contracts, structuring and documentation of financial investment transactions, joint venture agreements and advising on trade and commercial disputes.

Irfan M. Tayebaly is primarily responsible for dealing with banking and capital market and corporate clients and advising high end corporates, banks, leasing companies, modarabas, investment finance companies, brokerage houses and other corporate clients on behalf of the firm. He is probably the most experienced lawyer in Privatization transaction of banks and financial institutions in Pakistan and TFC (bond) issues in Pakistan. He also specializes in acquisition and sale transaction of banks and financial institutions and other corporate acquisitions and mergers.

Arshad M. Tayebaly is exclusively responsible for all litigation matters of the Firm. He appears before the Supreme Court and the High Courts of the Country and supervises all litigation matters before the Banking Courts, District Courts and Tribunals.

He has successfully handled several important litigation and arbitration matters including those relating to Company Law, Regulatory and Public Law, Commercial and Contract Disputes and Real Estate matters. He is considered to be the leading expert in Commercial and Company litigation matters. Many of the decisions in litigation matters handled by him are reported in Law Journals.

Arshad M. Tayebaly is renowned for his solution oriented approach and understanding the clients’ needs, playing a key role in numerous landmark disputes including the disputes surrounding the Karachi Rapid Bus Transit System and the Supreme Court’s decision to quash the National Accountability Bureau Reference arising out of a notable commercial transaction. He has achieved numerous favorable outcomes via various modes of alternative dispute resolution.
He completed his LL.M. from Kings College London in 1990.

Vaseeq Khalid has over 17 years experience with MTC in corporate, banking and commercial matters. He directly handles and has extensive experience in transactions involving corporate financing (local and foreign currency), project financing, capital markets including term finance certificate (bond) Issues, Islamic financing, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and other corporate, finance and commercial transactions.

Mehreen Manto has over 25 years corporate and banking law experience and independently handles transactions involving acquisitions/acquisition financings, asset financings, corporate syndications, privatization transactions, bond (TFC) Issues and other corporate assignments involving advising on and review and drafting of complex documentation relating to finance and banking products and transactions. She has substantial experience in handling complex project financing transactions for banks and other corporates. She is also involved in rendering legal advice/opinions on commercial, banking, corporate and other legal issues.

Arshad Nazir Mirza is a Partner based in the Lahore office. Mr. Mirza is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and regularly appears in complex civil, commercial, corporate and constitutional cases before the apex court. He also handles a vast array of matters before the various High Courts of the country. A highly respected advocate, Mr. Mirza has also had the distinction of serving for 7 years as a member of the judiciary. His highly nuanced understanding of the law is an invaluable asset for his clients as well as our firm. Time and again he has helped clients achieve favorable results, be it through negotiation or litigation. Before taking up a partnership at MTC, Mr. Mirza ran a highly successful practice in Lahore. Apart from regular litigation work, Mr. Mirza also has a rich experience of dealing with complex arbitrations, both as an advocate as well as an arbitrator. Mikael Rahim has over 13 years of legal experience in corporate advisory and dispute resolution, and has been with Mohsin Tayebaly & Co. for over 10 years, being involved in a diverse range of corporate, commercial, banking, financial and regulatory matters. Muhammad Shahzad Ashraf, Advocate High Court and Solicitor of Senior Courts of England & Wales (Regulated by SRA), is a partner of the firm and has been practicing as an advocate at Karachi for over 18 years. Mr. Ashraf appears before the High Courts, Banking Courts and District Courts of Pakistan. Shahzad’s area of expertise includes property and real estate matters and he is actively involved in opining and advising on matters relating to property / security documentation, rent laws and company matters as well as matters relating to commercial, banking and financial transactions. In addition, he advises on intellectual property matters including registration, assignment and licensing of patents, trademarks and copyrights.

Hamza Naveed Shaikh, LL.B (Hons.) (University of London), is a Partner at the Lahore office of our firm and directly assists the Partners in a range of financing and corporate matters including: project financing transactions for power and road infrastructure projects; syndicated conventional and Shariah compliant financing transactions; joint venture arrangements involving foreign investors; acquisition as well as restructuring of companies under companies law; rendering opinions, drafting and vetting of agreements; and conducting due diligence. Hamza is enrolled as an Advocate with the Punjab Bar Council.

Saad Amir is an Associate Partner at MTC’s Lahore office. He holds a Bachelors in Law from the University of London, and a Masters in Law from King’s College London, with a focus on Constitutional Law. He is licensed to practice in the High Courts of Pakistan.
Saad has a breadth of experience in areas ranging from constitutional, commercial, intellectual property, regulatory and media and information law, to urban planning and environmental law. He has over the years rendered legal services to business entities, public bodies, regulators and not-for-profit organisations, encompassing litigation, transactional and advisory engagements.
Saad is currently an adjunct faculty member at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law at LUMS.
