Mikael Rahim Co-leads Session On Legal, Regulatory And Taxation Matters For It Companies

We are pleased to share that our Partner, Mikael Rahim, co-led the Global Advisory & Innovation Network (GAIN) mentorship session titled “A Dialogue on Legal, Regulatory and Taxation Matters for IT Companies”, convened by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) under the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication on Friday, September 11, 2026. The session was attended by executives of PSEB-registered IT and IT-enabled services companies / entrepreneurs.
The discussion addressed the fiscal and regulatory questions that most frequently constrain technology entities, including federal and provincial sales tax mechanisms, the statutory export tax exemptions available to the sector, foreign currency retention accounts maintained under the framework prescribed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and the recurring bottlenecks encountered in inward remittances.
The session further addressed the governance side of the same question: the drafting of enforceable remote employment contracts, protection of proprietary software code and other intellectual property, the structuring and execution of cross-border commercial contracts, emerging liabilities in artificial intelligence and data privacy, and the harmonization of compliance requirements across the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the SBP and PSEB. An interactive question and answer segment followed, in which participating founders and executives raised the operational difficulties encountered in their own businesses.
PSEB has since acknowledged the contribution by letter of its Chief Skills Development Officer. Mikael Rahim served as a GAIN Ambassador under the initiative.
