MTC Part Of SECP’S Working Group On The Development Of Pakistan’s Corporate Debt Market

We are pleased to share that our Partner, Vaseeq Khalid, will be representing Mohsin Tayebaly & Co. as part of the high-level Working Group constituted by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to review the regulatory framework of the corporate debt instrument market in Pakistan and recommend reforms.

Constituted on the guidance of the Honourable Finance Minister and led by SECP Commissioner Ali Farid Khawaja, the Working Group brings together the Ministry of Finance, the SECP, capital market institutions, financial institutions, credit rating agency, legal experts and other market participants. Its mandate is focused on three areas that go to the heart of why debt issuance in Pakistan remains slower and costlier than it should be: reducing the complexity of the issuance process, lowering issuance costs, and standardizing legal documentation.

Having advised on a significant portion of Pakistan’s TFC, Sukuk, commercial paper and other corporate debt instruments over the years, we are honored to be at the forefront of this effort.
